Concept Sketch - Angel

This is a character concept sketch for a friend of mine. He gave me a description of the pegasus that he wanted a sketch of, and this is what I produced. The description was as follows: "White coat, dove wings, ink black mane that is like raven feathers and tail like smoke."

The wings were the hardest part of the piece, requiring multiple different sketch-ups using different references due to my lack of experience with different wing types. Despite the fact that the wings may be a bit too large for the body, I think that the final result was worth the effort. The mane was tough to make look like feathers, so I just gave each piece the general form of my typical feathers. And, the wispy tail was my best attempt at emulating smoke. That part will probably require asking the opinion of the requester and some digital tricks later on.
