Liadan (Color)

Liadan is a D&D character turned pony as part of some experimentation that Scaramouche was working on a while back. She's a wizard who studies dragons for a living, and does some badass stuff on her adventures. Thus, here we have Liadan in her natural habitat, in the company of some dragons, studying and hanging out with them in general.

I decided to take the sketchy version of this picture and color it up, since I haven't colored anything in quite some time. Toyed around with the way I usually paint (like I seem to in every piece these days, since I take such long gaps between them). Things like the color blend sampling and the highlights, as well as trying to unify the color at the end by tinkering with the levels. In addition, doing backgrounds and such isn't something I often do, so that was awkward to figure out how to deal with. 

Also, it ended up with a much lower saturation than I expected (because I forgot my one monitor always looks odd when I'm working on it...), so I have to do some saturation adjustments after the rest of the piece was done. I've got a much lower saturation version, but it felt a bit too muddy to be acceptable, especially since I was intending to have it look sunset-ish in tone (gence the yellow-orange coloration).  Hopefully it looks alright in the end.
