Twilight Sparkle Sketch Redone

Just over a year ago, I started drawing pony art. I had wanted to back into art since I enjoyed it so much back when I had the time to really work at it, and since I had just finished up my first college degree, I had found myself with a lot more free time to work with.

I decided to start with the pony works because I saw an opportunity to give back to a community whose amazing works of art, fiction, music, etc. had brought a lot of joy into my life. Through my art, I hoped that maybe I could similarly provide some joy to others around the community, even if it was just to a handful.

This piece [link] was my first pony sketch ever. Back then, I was quite proud of the piece, even though I knew that my skills were nowhere near the caliber of the amazing artists whose artwork I saw on a daily basis. However, I knew that, if I kept practicing day after day, I would improve with time. And I did. With every piece, I learned something new and had the chance to hone my budding skills.

Today, this is where I am. After producing around 150 different pieces of pony artwork (alongside some other works), I decided to go back and draw Twilight in a similar pose to the first sketch. Some adjustments were made for in-show developments and stylistic reasons, but I made an effort to keep it close to the original idea.

I want to take this time to thank all of the fantastic artists that have helped me develop over the last year, and to all of the other people who have taken the time to encourage me along the way. It means a lot to me, it really does. It’s been an amazing journey so far, and I can’t wait to see what the future will hold.
